External Insulation

Professional rendering of your property not only shields it but also creates a luxurious finish, increasing its value.

External wall insulation (EWI) is a cornerstone of our insulation solutions at Prestige Houses, offering a multitude of advantages for homeowners in Hampshire and Dorset.  Our primary insulation material is Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), renowned for its high performance and cost-effectiveness. When applied to a building, EPS significantly enhances its thermal properties by improving U-values and reducing the risks associated with water penetration and condensation.

EPS boards, available in a variety of thicknesses ranging from 20mm to 200mm in 10mm increments, are versatile enough to be used on masonry, system-built properties, and in conjunction with our EWI Pro render systems. Designed for external application, these boards are affixed using EWI Pro adhesive and mechanical fixings, ensuring a secure and long-lasting installation.

The integration of EWI into your home provides tangible benefits such as increased energy efficiency, enhanced comfort, and improved aesthetics. By creating a protective barrier around your home, EWI minimises heat loss during winter and heat gain in summer, resulting in lower energy bills and a consistently comfortable living environment. Additionally, EWI acts as an effective sound barrier, reducing external noise pollution and promoting a quieter indoor atmosphere.

Beyond these immediate benefits, our EWI solutions contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing your home's reliance on heating and cooling systems, thereby lowering carbon emissions. This eco-friendly approach aligns with the preferences of environmentally conscious homeowners seeking sustainable home improvement options.

Improve External Appearance

An EWI system features a render finish that boosts both the functionality and outward look of a building.  Our renders are available in a diverse array of textures and colors, providing a distinctive finish that is durable over time.

Enhance Facade Durability

Our premium range of renders is extremely flexible, breathable, and hydrophobic. These attributes contribute to enhancing the longevity of the building's facade by reducing the likelihood of cracking, organic growth, and damp problems.

Improve Thermal Comfort

Thermal comfort means maintaining a pleasant temperature inside a building regardless of external weather conditions. With EWI, we can ensure that the interior of your property remains at an ideal temperature for optimal comfort, regardless of the weather.

Minimise Heating Costs

By retaining heat within a building, energy costs can be significantly lowered.  A four-bedroom detached house can anticipate saving around £455 per year on energy expenses by installing 90mm of EPS on a solid brick wall.

Extend Building Longevity

As EWI envelops the entire exterior of a building, it not only prevents heat loss but also guards against water penetration.  The render serves as a weather-resistant barrier for the building, consequently extending its longevity.

Reduce CO2 emissions

With external wall insulation, the reliance on gas and electricity usage is reduced throughout the year.  Consequently, buildings with EWI contribute to environmental conservation by consuming less energy.

Our Materials

    EPS Insulation

        EPS Insulation

The focal point of our external wall insulation systems is Expanded Polystyrene insulation (EPS).

EPS insulation is a high-performing and cost-efficient insulation material. When installed on a property, EPS very easily upgrades the thermal properties of a building – improving U-values and reducing the risk of water penetration and condensation.

EPS boards can be used on masonry and system-built properties as well as with our range of EWI Pro render systems. It is designed to be applied externally using EWI Pro adhesive and mechanical fixings.

EWI Pro EPS boards are available in a broad range of thicknesses (from 20mm to 200mm – going up in 10mm increments).

    Mineral Wool Insulation

        Mineral Wool Insulation

Rockwool insulation features as part of our Mineral Wool insulation system, offering both improved thermal conductivity and acoustic insulation.

One of the most appealing aspects of this type of insulation is that it offers outstanding fire resistance, because Mineral Wool is non-combustible; it’s therefore ideal for providing firebreaks when insulating high rise buildings.
This is because the insulation itself acts as a fire barrier, helping to slow down the rate of flames without contributing to the fire.

Mineral Wool systems are also a premium system because of they offer a high level of breathability; the presence of fibres and moisture repelling compounds within the material help to wick moisture through and away from the substrate.

Mineral Wool insulation boards are made up of two different density layers of wool – the outer layer being the most dense and therefore providing a firm surface on which to apply the basecoat and render.

Rockwool external wall insulation boards require metal pin mechanical fixings as well as the EWI-225 Premium Adhesive to tie them to the wall (a minimum of 7 fixings are required per m2).
